October 2021 Newsletter

Halloween Party
Our Costume & Halloween Party will on Oct 29. Your child is welcome to wear their costume all day. I suggest bringing a change of clothes, just in case they do not want to leave it on. You are also welcome to bring a snack for others as well.

***Yearly Rate Increase***
Reminder that everyone's rate will increase on January 1, 2022 as per signed contracts. It will be $1/day/child.

***Changes to 2022 Policies***
Holidays
This daycare is closed on the following holidays. New Year’s Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor
Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day and the day after; and Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. (President's Day has been added to the Holiday list)

Vacations and Personal Days

Provider's Personal Days:

The provider has 20 paid personal days per year, which start over every January 1st. Payment is expected when provider uses personal days, whether child is full-time or part-time. These days are taken to take care of health and welfare, business, court, vacations or personal concerns. (Went from 15 paid personal days per year to 20 paid personal days per year.)

Holding Fee

When we agree to hold an opening, we give up the right to fill that position and to receive tuition from that position. For this reason, a NON-REFUNDABLE holding fee is required to hold an opening when a child’s start date is more than 3 weeks away. This fee will be $400.00 a month to hold a space. (Please see Holding Fee Contract.) This fee will guarantee a space for this child at this facility starting on ______________. (Went from $200 a month to $400 a month)

Support for Families Wanting to Save For College

Do you know anyone looking to set up college savings accounts for their children?

CDE and CollegeInvest are offering two programs to assist families in starting and building their children's college savings accounts. The two programs offered are First Step and the Matching Grant Program.

First Step offers a free $100 for new babies and adoptions starting in 2020.

The Matching Grant Program offers a dollar-for-dollar match up to $1000 per year, and families can receive up to 5 awards, totaling $5000.

Information on the First Step program can be found here on the CollegeInvest website https://www.collegeinvest.org/first-step/

Information on the Matching Grant Program can be found here https://www.collegeinvest.org/matching-grant-program/

Any family that enrolls in the First Step program is automatically eligible for the Matching Grant Program, regardless of income.

***COVID Vaccine & UPDATE Information***
In order to protect ALL CHILDREN here at Angel Hugs Daycare (since children CANNOT get vaccinated yet), we are encouraging ALL HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS 12+ to be vaccinated as this does not just affect one person, it affects Angel Hugs Daycare as a WHOLE COMMUNITY. With children being HUGE carriers, with the data showing they DO NOT ALWAYS show symptoms, and with the variants that are more contagious.....This is SUPER IMPORTANT that ALL 12+ in our childcare community try to protect all the kids in my facility.

-What that means is a child could have the virus, have no symptoms, attend childcare, and then infect another child.

So I am asking that ALL HOUSEHOLD MEMBER 12+ be vaccinated for COVID-19, out of respect for ALL CHILDREN involved here.

Please see attached Visitor Policy & COVID - New Mask Guidance & Vaccines at Angel Hugs Daycare Email  to the newsletter email

****NEW INFORMATION****
All children ages 3+ are be in masks in doors, with the exception of outdoors, actively eating or drinking, or while taking naps per Jefferson County Public Health Order. Jeffco PHO Amended Mask Order

NO CHILD will be able to attend childcare with symptoms listed in Symptoms at Home or Addressing Symptoms at School below WITHOUT a Negative PCR test or molecular rapid COVID test or 10 days of isolation unless the symptom has resolved within the first 24 hours. Any symptom of COVID is basically to be treated as COVID until proven otherwise, is what we have been told to do by Jefferson County Public Health Department.

REMEMBER 3W's
-Wear masks
-Withstand your distance
-Wash your hands

ELV Online System
Please continue to keep all information up to date on Early Learning Ventures.

***RESOURCE LIST***
The list of resources has been added to Angel Hugs Daycare Facebook Page, in order for parents to have access to this information at all times. We never know what life throws at us. This list of resources has numbers for food banks, emergency housing, hospitals, and many other helpful things parents may need.

***NEW Illness Policy & Check-up***
There is a NEW STRICTLY ENFORCED ILLNESS POLICY CDC requires us to follow: NO sneezing, coughing, and fevered children. If your child comes down with an illness we will be following the CDPHE guidelines that are current for that time.

Temperature over 100 degrees F is considered a fever according to the CDC. For all other illnesses I will be following The Children's Hospital & CDC as to when to keep your child home with you. Just remember that a lot of illnesses are contagious before symptoms appear, including the the actual Flu, COVID, and many many others.

***Curriculum***
This year we have added in music lessons once a week to enhance our learning in all the learning domains, such as literacy and language, math, physical, logic and reason, and many of the growing areas. This is at no extra charge.

In order to maintain a high quality early childcare education program, I will be using my own curriculum, mixed with others, all which aligns with Colorado Early Learning and Developmental Guidelines. This curriculum is Child-led and Play-based (intentional teaching, but child-led ideas) all while learning ALL the skills that is needed to enter into Colorado's Kindergarten programs. I am so excited to launch this.

I am including an article from the National Association for the Education of Young Children, along with web link resources, that talks about play and play-based early childcare education and how this is so beneficial for children birth to 6 years old. Please take some time to read this. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me questions.

I will put on the board what they need to help pick out from home. Example: 1st Week we will be working on the letter A & the color Blue. If you could help them find something at home that starts with the letter A, like the sound in APPLE or something with the color Blue.
