September 2023 Newsletter

***Back-To-School***

Back to school is next week...UPK starts Sept 6, 2023! I know all the kids are so excited to learn new things. We have been doing a lot talking this week about what we are excited for. There will be a photo booth area on the front porch on Wednesday morning for all the kids to get their pictures taken.

Back-To-School Night Picnic
Thank you for everyone who was able to make it. It is so good to be able to start getting back to normal with having our Back-To-School Picnic. Thank you for sharing all the food that you did, everything was so yummy. If you were not able to make it, we missed you.

Volunteer Outdoor Area
Thank you for ALL the help that was done in our Outdoor Area. The kids are so loving the hopscotch. I am in the process of putting together another grant to help build onto the walking garden. We would not have the quality of school without you parents. SO, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!

Strengthening Families Program Evaluation
Last month I took an overall program evaluation that had to do with the connections between the program and your families.

*Results shows that the program is in need of the following*
1) More coffee/tea/muffin type things for parents in the mornings.
2) I myself need to focus more on my own self-care activities.

*Goals*
1) I will be adding in more of these throughout the year. Please watch for more information to come.
2) I will be working on 2 things, going back to more exercise to help stress relief & I will be working on trying to not work ALL the time.

"LET'S READ TOGETHER!"
We will be participating in the “LET’S READ TOGETHER!” reading program to support children’s love for reading. Twenty (20) minutes a day helps create a lifetime reader.

“LET’S READ TOGETHER!” starts on August 23, 2023 and ends October 25, 2023.
I will be sending home the Family Packet, but you can also find it by clicking here.

Illness Policy
Temperature over 100 degrees F is considered a fever according to the CDC. For all other illnesses I will be following The Children's Hospital & CDC as to when to keep your child home with you. Just remember that a lot of illnesses are contagious before symptoms appear, including the actual Flu, COVID, and many, many others.

Early Childhood Mental Health Resources

Mental health can be a sensitive topic, but it's important to talk about it. That's because everyone has mental health - even babies - and the foundation for lifelong mental health is set in the early years. See
