Spring is in Air
It's getting warm out and all I can do is think of the flowers and all the color that is starting to appear and how much the kids enjoy the outdoors this time of year. This newsletter is definitely not one I ever hoped to write, not knowing from day to day what changes will be happening. And definitely not one where I would not see the kids for an entire month. If you have any questions or concerns during this time please feel free to reach out to me. I will continue checking in with everyone as well. Praying everyone stays healthy and safe during this Stay-At-Home Order.
With everything going on and changes from day to day as to what we can and cannot do. I am not to sure what this summer is going to look like. We maybe here doing things all summer, but my goal is to be able to do the Summer Fun Schedule. Please be thinking about your plans for childcare for over the summer. Next month, I will have a confirmed list of our activities for each day, as long as the government allows things to be open. Here is what it will possibly be looking like:

***NEW Family Engagement & At-Home Learning***
Meals-To-Go
Being on the Food Program, the CO Dept of Public Health and Environment is allowing providers to send up to one day's worth of meals and snacks home with a parent who picks it up daily. Please let me know if you will be using this service. "Meals-To-Go" includes breakfast, morning snack, and lunch.
Zoom
We will be doing a Zoom kid classroom meeting every Thursday at 9am. I will text a link out every week for this. We will do this in order to try to keep kids connected.
Vroom
Is an app parents can get for ideas for each child's age level. From what I have seen it aligns with Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines. Please check it out. The app is available for both iphone and androids. http://www.parentpossible.org/vroom/
Marco Polo
A text was sent out this morning for our classroom Read-A-Loud's. I will be posting Read-A-Louds on here for your child to watch. (No need to respond back, but they can if they want too)
Please follow along with Angel Hugs Daycare's Facebook. As I will be sharing a lot of different ideas for the children to do at home as well as different tools for parents as well.
***NEW Illness Policy & Check-up & Immunization Waivers***
Rumor has it that there will be NEW STRICTLY ENFORCED ILLNESS POLICY coming out by the CDC when things get back to the new norm, but I do not have that list yet. This is all hear say right now, but I have been told, sneezing, coughing, and fevered children will have to stay home for 72 hours before being allowed to come back, just to make sure no other symptoms appear......this could be the new norm forever.
As for now for ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL CHILDREN, the COVID-19 Illness Policy stays in affect and is STRICTLY ENFORCED! Temperature over 100 degrees F is considered a fever according to the CDC. For all other illnesses I will be following The Children's Hospital & CDC as to when to keep your child home with you. Just remember that a lot of illnesses are contagious before symptoms appear, including the the actual Flu, COVID, and many many others.
We have been given an extended waiver of 60 days on well child checks and immunizations. So if you child is due this month or next, they won't expire for here at childcare until June or July.
***Curriculum***
This year we have added in music lessons once a week to enhance our learning in all the learning domains, such as literacy and language, math, physical, logic and reason, and many of the growing areas. This is at no extra charge.
In order to maintain a high quality early childcare education program, I will be using my own curriculum, mixed with others, all which aligns with Colorado Early Learning and Developmental Guidelines. This curriculum is Child-led and Play-based (intentional teaching, but child-led ideas) all while learning ALL the skills that is needed to enter into Colorado's Kindergarten programs. I am so excited to launch this.
I am including an article from the National Association for the Education of Young Children, along with web link resources, that talks about play and play-based early childcare education and how this is so beneficial for children birth to 6 years old. Please take some time to read this. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me questions.

The kids will be asked to bring ONE toy from home on FRIDAY'S ONLY, but now they have to help pick something that we have learned from the week. I will put on the board what they need to help pick out from home. Example: 1st Week we will be working on the letter A & the color Blue. If you could help them find something at home that starts with the letter A, like the sound in APPLE or something with the color Blue.
Please bring this item in a bag, labeled with their name. Since we are going to have a specific day to bring a toy, I am asking for ALL other toys to stay at home all other days.
